S.E. Hinton wrote the original story when she was sixteen years old.

In the poster for the film, the Greasers are shown laughing as Johnny (Ralph Macchio) is smirking.
This was a candid shot, taken during the photo session in which the actors were supposed to look tough at the camera.
What happened was that Leif Garrett (who played Bob) was approaching the food table off-camera, and a stagehand (who didn't know who Garrett was) said
"The food is for the talent (meaning actors)," and Macchio sarcastically said, "Yeah, it's for the TALENT!"
This comment cracked up the cast, and the photo was used.

(they were in Coppola's original cut, but were edited at the behest of the studio).
Years later, Coppola's granddaughter was reading the book in class, and was about to watch the film with her fellow schoolmates.
Feeling embarrassed, Coppola cobbled together what would eventually become his director's cut.


During filming Tom Cruise had gotten his sсript for Risky Business (1983). In the DVD commentary, Diane Lane says (very quietly)
to the other actors that he had asked her during filming to play Lana in 'Risky Business',
and her father told him there's no way in hell she was going to be a hooker in his movie.

When Dallas falls out of his chair at the drive-in, it was completely accidental, and Ponyboy (C. Thomas Howell) looks briefly at the camera while laughing.

The actors pulled some pranks in the hotel in which they stayed while shooting this movie.
Years later, Tom Cruise was introduced to someone who said he worked at the hotel Cruise and the rest of the cast stayed in while they shot this movie.
The first thing Cruise said when he heard that was "I'm sorry."

During filming, the actors playing the Socs were given leather-bound scripts and were put up in luxury accommodations,
while the "greasers" were given battered paperback scripts and had to stay in the ground floor of the hotel, as director Francis Ford Coppola wanted to create tension between the two groups.

After Matt Dillon auditioned for the part of Dally, director Francis Ford Coppola went up to him and told him, "You can go home now."
Dillon thought he didn't get the part and called his agent and told him he didn't get the part.
Later on, it turned out Coppola sent him home early because he already knew he was going to cast him as Dally.

Francis Ford Coppola wanted Matt Dillon to spend a night in jail to 'understand' Dally a bit better.

During filming, Rob Lowe asked S.E. Hinton, the original author of 'The Outsiders', what happens to Sodapop Curtis. The author responded that Sodapop dies in Vietnam.

Mickey Rourke auditioned for a part in the film, but director Francis Ford Coppola felt that he wasn't the right fit. He did use him for his film 'Rumble Fish (1983)' however.

Я и забыла, насколько страшный это фильм.
Здесь явно чувствуется влияние Хичкова, помимо классического Марти.
Пригодился и верный композитор Альфреда, Бернард Херманн. А титры от художника Джеймса Бонда.

Оказывается помимо Грегори Пека здесь также и Роберт Митчум появился, и еще один актер. Это здорово.
Ник Нолти мне вообщем-то никогда не нравился, но тут более или менее. Лэнг люблю.
И Джульетта Льюс кстати говоря, чаще всего встречающаяся на вторых ролях, всегда к месту.
И помимо обычно развязных девчонок, здесь она такая вот еще совсем неопытная девочка.



Ну а пфф, что говорить о Роберте. О, мааай!
Страшно красив, и пугающе привлекателен.
А вообще он здесь не просто животное, как Митчум в оригинальном фильме, а просто настоящий псих, маньяк! Ужас.
Интересно, какая интерпретация вернее, и каким он выглядит в книге ...



Robert De Niro's thick Max Cady accent reportedly gave Scorsese the creeps, and as a joke, De Niro would call the director's house, leaving messages as Cady.
De Niro's Cady accent came from an earlier role where he played a southerner.
To prepare for the role, De Niro took excerpts of the sсript and a tape recorder into southern towns and would ask locals to read the lines into the tape.

Martin Balsam played Mark Dutton in the 1962 version and the judge in this version.

Director Martin Scorsese read the original sсript three times while making Славные парни (1990) and hated it each time
because of how the Bowdens were a happy family and wanted them to be miserable.

Steven Spielberg was originally set to direct. He later recommended Martin Scorsese for the job and personally called the director,
letting him know that this was a commercial film that had potential to be a hit, which would exercise more power for Scorcese to make his films.
It took a year to convince Martin Scorsese to make this movie.

For the first time in Scorsese's career, he allowed the screenwriter, Wesley Strick, on the set during filming.

Director Martin Scorsese's first choice for the role of Bowden was Harrison Ford. He had Robert De Niro call Ford to try convincing him to take the part.
Robert Redford was also considered for the role of Sam Bowden.

The auditorium scene was originally scripted as a chase scene, but Scorsese wanted it to be a seduction.
Juliette Lewis developed a crush on Robert De Niro during the scene in the drama class. - I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND!

De Niro did a lot of working out several months before the movie and during the shoot to make him the muscular Max Cady, reportedly taking his body fat down to only 3%.

When Cady strangles Kersek with the piano wire, Steven Spielberg suggested he be dressed up as the housekeeper while doing it.

De Niro researched sexual predator crimes for the part and suggested the scene where his character bites the victim.

Robert De Niro and Illeana Douglas's scenes were improvised.

Robert De Niro helped costume designer Rita Ryack chose Cady's clothing.

De Niro was tattooed with vegetable dyes, which fade after a few months.

Robert De Niro paid a dentist $5,000 to make his teeth look suitably bad for the role of Max Cady. After filming, he paid $20,000 to have them fixed.

Robert De Niro would only get under the Bowden's car if a stuntman could prove it could be done.

When Steven Spielberg was attached to direct he had plans on casting Bill Murray as Max Cady. - WAAAT ??

Sarah Jessica Parker was originally cast as Danielle.

Martin Scorsese wanted the Bowden's house surrounded by oak trees, covered by hanging tufts of Spanish moss.
He wanted it so it looked like a sunny oasis by day, and isolating by night. Therefore, it would make a perfect dark cover for Cady.

Darryl F. Zanuck felt the time was right to bring up the subject of anti-Semitism following the full disclosure of what had actually gone on in the Nazi death camps.

When other studio chiefs, who were mostly Jewish, heard about the making of this film, they asked the producer not to make it.
They feared its theme of anti-Semitism would simply stir up a hornet's nest and preferred to deal with the problem quietly.
Not only did production continue, but a scene was subsequently included that mirrored that confrontation.

The movie was Fox's top-grossing picture of 1948.

Laura Z. Hobson wrote her novel after Senator John Rankin's anti-Semitic comments were applauded in Congress.
It was then serialized in Cosmopolitan from November 1946 to February 1947, immediately causing quite a stir.
This prompted Darryl F. Zanuck (who was one of the few studio heads who was not Jewish) to snap up the novel's rights.

Shooting started in late May 1947 and took 3 months. The film opened in November of that year to overwhelming critical favor.

Despite winning an Oscar for his direction, Elia Kazan revealed in a later interview that he was never fond of this movie, feeling that it lacked passion on his part and he thought that the romance was too forced.

John Garfield was blacklisted, taken off the blacklist and put back on it again and it was believed that it was the stress of these experiences which led to the heart attack that killed him at the age of 39.

Gregory Peck did not get along with director Elia Kazan. Kazan told the press he was very disappointed with Peck's performance and the two men never worked together again.

Author of the original short story Ernest Hemingway liked the film.
Prior to its release, producer Mark Hellinger sent publicity man Al Horwits to Sun Valley, Idaho, to give Hemingway a private screening.
Hemingway had a pint of gin in one pocket of his overcoat and a pint of water in the other so that he could sip from them if the film got bad.
After the screening, Hemingway held up the full bottles, grinned and said "Didn't need 'em".

This was Burt Lancaster's first important movie role.
He was the third choice for the part of The Swede, and was signed only after actors Wayne Morris and Sonny Tufts proved unavailable.
Lancaster was an ex-circus acrobat from Union City, New Jersey.
When producer Mark Hellinger saw the first rushes of Lancaster's performance in a private screening room, he was so pleased that he yelled
"So help me, may all my actors be acrobats!" Warner Bros. producer Mark Hellinger cast the unknown Burt Lancaster in his first movie. It made Lancaster a star.

Нашла этот чудесный фильм! Ком в горле и глаза в слезах.



In addition to being based on J.D. Salinger, William Forrester is also heavily inspired by John Kennedy Toole.
Toole wrote the book "A Confederacy of Dunces", a mysteriously autobiographical book, but when no one would publish it, he gassed himself to death in his car. Years later, the book was published and won the Pulitzer Prize.

Star Rob Brown got the role after initially auditioning as an extra. Brown had no aspirations of being an actor and was only hoping to make some money to pay his $300 cell phone bill. But Gus Van Sant invited him to audition for the role of Jamal and liked his natural ability.

When Jamal checks out the data on Forrester with the school's computer, the facts he discovers are actually Sean Connery's real life data.

The character of Robert Crawford is based on a real life Robert Crawford, who teaches history at Phillips Academy Andover, a private school outside of Boston.

In the scene where Busta Rhymes is eating dinner with his mother, he is wearing a Bushi T-shirt. Bushi is Busta's new clothing line.

During filming, it was discovered that Sean Connery could not type. When you see Forrester's hands on the keys, they are the hands of someone else.

Услышала знакомое название фильма внутри фильма "Забегаловка". Открыла информацию, понравилось + Тони Кертис = решила посмотреть.
Шикарный фильм! О амбициях, лжи, тщеславии, мести и совести. О пресс-агентах - одной из ветвей моей специальности.
После " В Джазе только девушки" я видела парочку других фильмов с Тони Кертисом, и он мне всегда нравился. О Боже, какой же он здесь красивый и обаятельный!
Но это второй фильм, в котором он мне запомнился именно самостоятельным героем, персонажем так гениально сыгранным им же.
Его герой Сидни - амбициозный молодой человек, отчаянно пытающийся пробиться в люди и достичь успеха.
Для этого он готов на любые гнусности и хитрости, и в этом он специалист.
Но всё же местами у него проявляется чувство вины, хотя он также быстро старается от него избавится.
Он работает на очень влиятельного владельца газеты, который не уступает ему в хитрости и жесткости характера.
Его играет знаменитый актер Берт Ланкастер, которого я видела в паре фильмов с Аленом Делоном - кажется они были друзьями.
Но там он мне не нравился так, как понравился мне здесь. Дико. Его бешеный взгляд и такой непредсказуемый персонаж, что ты действительно боишься его.

Великолепный фильм, и снят просто невероятно красиво. Грязный Нью-Йорк в ночных огнях и под звуки джаза.

The original budget of $600,000 eventually ballooned to $2,600,000.

The movie's line "I'd hate to take a bite outta you. You're a cookie full of arsenic" was voted as the #99 of "The 100 Greatest Movie Lines" by Premiere in 2007.

The character of J.J. Hunsecker is based on famed New York columnist Walter Winchell.

Burt Lancaster' blamed Ernest Lehman's withdrawal due to illness for the film's box-office failure.
At the after party for the premiere, Lancaster threatened to beat Lehman up. The witty scribe replied, "Go ahead, I need the money."

Author Lorenzo Carcaterra has claimed that his book on which the film is based was a true story of his childhood.
When the New York legal community went on record stating that no cases resembling the events of his book could be found in any court records, C

Давно лежал у меня этот фильм.
Есть вконтакте единственная наверное адекватная группа про кино, благодаря которой я узнаю о некоторых фильмах.
Они выкладывают какие-нибудь интересные скрины сцен из фильма, и я сразу беру на заметку.
Так было и с этим фильмом. Замечательный! И актеры! Эллен Баркин, Бейкон ...
Боже, хочу еще фильмов с молодым Микки Рурком, это просто наслаждение!
А еще узнала Дэниела Стерна - второго вора из "Один Дома". Это наверное первый фильм где я его помню не бандитом в паре с Джо Пеши.
Ну а Барри Левинсон уже давно любимый режиссер.

All of the scenes in the diner were filmed last after the cast got to know each other. The dialog in those scenes is a combination of scripted and improvisational.

Just like his character Shrevie, Daniel Stern (a Maryland native) was the only main actor
who was married when Diner was filming, and thus missed out on much of the nightclub action with the other guys.

Kevin Bacon was sick on the day of his screen test to play Fenwick.
But he had previously decided that his character would probably be half-drunk during the entire movie, so he went ahead and auditioned and got the part.

OMG! Возьму теперь традицию каждую неделю непременно смотреть шоу Нортона, ибо оно невероятно веселое!
Эмма ну просто неповторима! Робби такой милый - и я решила что он следующий у меня на очереди в плане музыки.
Теннант выглядел сногсшибательно! И я впервые "познакомилась" с Мэттом Смитом, о котором давно слышала от подруги много хорошего.
И он действительно очень приятный молодой человек.
И вообще, вся эта тема с сериалом - я уже не первый раз сталкиваюсь с напоминанием о нем, и конечно когда-нибудь начну смотреть его.
Но всё же - фанатичные фанаты присутствуют я думаю в каждом фандоме, но в этом особенно я считаю.И никогда не могла этого терпеть и выносить.
У меня собственно в университете, в группе есть такой вот больной этим сериалом человек, для которого все зашло слишком далеко я считаю.
Она не может говорить реально ни о чем кроме этого сериала. Ну винить в этом некого наверное, но все же неприятная картина.

Вот кстати сумасшествие или нет, но поклонница Робби и поклонник " Доктора" которые просили расписаться на своем теле,
а потом превращали это в тату здесь кажутся к удивлению адекватными. И вообще всё шоу было ну замечательным.
